Connecticut high school to provide gap year counseling

With a growing number of graduating seniors opting to postpone college for a year, a Connecticut high school says it will expand its guidance program to help students plan a gap year, according to a local newspaper.
Weston High School officials told the paper that 15 of the 203 members of the Class of 2009 were making plans other than college, including taking a gap year. The school will “broaden the scope of its guidance program [in order to reach as many kids as possible,” Tom Scarice, assistant superintendent, told the Weston Forum.
